Second Annual Saltwater Experience Weekend draws seasoned anglers and novices alike for “get hooked” events with TV’s favorite fishing personalities

Duck Key, Fla. – September 11, 2014 – For the many fans across the country who follow the angling exploits of NBC Sports Saltwater Experience Captains Rich Tudor and Tom Rowland, the thought of an up close and personal weekend with the two popular hosts is at best a far-fetched fish tale. This past weekend, September 5-7, that fish tale became reality for nearly 100 anglers of all levels who congregated at Hawks Cay Resort, an iconic fishing destination in the Florida Keys that serves as home base for the series, to do some serious angler training, equipment demos, fishing and just plain bonding with their favorite duo at the second annual Saltwater Experience Weekend.

“It was a thrill for us to be able to spend a good deal of intimate time with avid fans,” said Captain Rich. “It’s hard to believe this event is only two years old, as Saltwater Experience Weekend is growing very quickly in popularity. To see the passion among our angling fans, young and old, who spent the weekend with us means a great deal to Tom and me.”

“Everything about this year’s event was bigger and better than the year prior,” said Captain Tom, “and we know this is only going to continue. From the quality of the presentations and seminars and the sheer beauty of Hawks Cay, to the committed sponsors who made the weekend extra memorable for all of us, this is one of those rare angling enthusiast events with no end in sight.”

Among the sponsors who made this weekend’s event possible: Host Hawks Cay Resort, Bubba Blade, Buff, Costa, Mercury, Motor Guide, Plano, Power-Pole, Stabil, True Flies and YETI Coolers.

In addition to seminars by Tudor and Rowland, guests learned about the latest gear, equipment and techniques from top industry experts, such as a net casting demonstration by Captain George Campbell of Snapshot Charters and a session on using electronic charts by Navionics.

When classes weren’t in session, guests who wanted to try out what they learned took advantage of Hawks Cay’s phenomenal mid-Key fishing location, featuring backcountry fishing as well as guided offshore trips to the Florida Reef.
